SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), April 3 (SeeNews) – The share indices of Bosnia's two stock exchanges, in Sarajevo and Banja Luka, partly recovered this week from the losses recorded in the previous two weeks, bourse data showed.
The 10-share benchmark SASX-10 index of the Sarajevo Stock Exchange (SASE) closed at 733.91 points on Friday, up by a weekly 1.42%, following a 1.48% drop in the previous week.
The broader SASX-30 index, which is composed of the 30 most liquid stocks on the SASE, rose by 1.76% to a closing value of 1,280.83, following a 0.44% decline recorded a week earlier.
The SASE index tracking investment funds, the BIFX, closed 0.16% lower at 950.89 points, after advancing 6.17% last week.
The Islamic stock index SASX-BBI, launched by the SASE and Bosna Bank International (BBI), advanced by 0.67% this week to 9,544.10 points, following a 0.53% drop a week earlier. The index is tracking 25 companies.
Plastic products maker Unioninvestplastika [SAJ:UNPLR] was the most traded company on SASE, generating 2.5 million marka in turnover, as its share price closed the week at 48.78 marka, up from 47.37 marka a week earlier.
SASE’s total trading turnover dropped to 5.56 million marka ($3.1 million/2.8 million euro) this week, from 7.65 million marka last week. This week's turnover was generated in 65 transactions.
SASE is based in the Federation, one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Banja Luka Stock Exchange (BLSE) is based in the other entity, the Serb Republic.
The BLSE’s benchmark index, the BIRS, closed at 595.05 points, up 0.33% from last Friday's closing value. The index lost 2.38% a week earlier.
Telekom Srpske [BANJ:TLKM-R-A] generated the largest trading turnover, of 620,000 marka, on the BLSE this week. The company's shares closed at 0.92 marka on Friday, unchanged in comparison with the March 27 closing price.
BLSE’s total trading turnover jumped to 41.8 million marka this week, from 1.26 million marka last week, boosted by the sale of 40.4 million marka worth of Treasury bills. This week's turnover was generated in 134 transactions.
