February 22 (SeeNews) - The motorway company of Bosnia's Serb Republic has launched invitation for expressions of interest from consultants to assist in works supervision for the design and construction of a new 5.65 km section of the Corridor Vc motorway, the EBRD said on Thursday.
Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier signed a loan deal with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to finance the first priority section on Corridor Vc through the Serb Republic between Johovac and Rudanka, and to provide connection to the existing Banja Luka-Doboj motorway, the EBRD said in a statement.
The motorway company of the Serb Republic, Autoputevi Republike Srpske, is responsible for implementation of the project and is now looking for consultants to perform the duties and assume the authority of ‘the engineer’ in accordance with the contract conditions.
The consultant shall act in the role of the engineer and its outputs shall have to comply with current local laws and regulations concerning the design, construction, supervision, construction works quality control and environmental protection, the EBRD noted.
Its services will include, among others, a full review of the contractors design proposals; inspecting and recording of the contractors progress against the programme; and maintaining up to date financial, works, labour, plant, safety and all associated daily site records.
The assignment is expected to start in August 2018 and last about two years.
The bidding deadline for consultants is March 22.
In December, the EBRD said it is providing a 70 million euro ($86 million) loan for the expansion of the motorway infrastructure in Bosnia's Serb Republic.
Corridor Vc is the main international transport corridor in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its development is a strategic priority for the country. The road is part of the Western Balkans Core Network. It has been established as an extension of the Trans-European Transport Networks and will eventually link the Hungarian capital Budapest with the Croatian port of Ploce.
The Serb Republic is one of the two constituent entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other is the Federation.
