June 2 (SeeNews) - Bosnian power utility Elektroprivreda BiH (EPBiH) [SAJ:JPESR] said it plans to invest 1.86 billion marka ($1.1 billion/951 million euro) by 2022, primarily in production facilities.
Of the total amount, the state-controlled power utility plans to invest 802.5 million marka of its own funds, while the remainder should be covered by existing and new loans, it said in a statement on Friday after adopting its 2020-2022 business plan.
The company listed as priority projects the completion of the 48 MW Podvelezje wind farm near the southern town of Mostar, which it started building last month. The Podvelezje wind farm is expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2021.
The power utility also plans to start the construction of the 450 MW Unit 7 of Tuzla thermal power plant (TPP), which is expected to produce 2,756 GWh of electricity per year.
At present, the Tuzla plant has an installed capacity of 732 MW, producing some 3,600 GWh of electricity per year on average and consuming 3.3 million tonnes of coal.
EPBiH plans to launch construction of a mini hydro power plant on the river Neretvica, some 100 km west of Sarajevo by 2022.
The 2020-2022 business plan also includes the launch of construction of Vlasic wind farm and Janjici hydro power plant in central Bosnia.
EPBiH is the biggest of Bosnia’s three power utilities.
