December 29 (SeeNews) - The combined passenger traffic at Bosnian international airports rose 20.9% to 898,048 in the first nine months of 2015, the country’s statistics office said.
Freight traffic in the nine-month period increased to 7,691 t through September from 1,637 t a year earlier, the Statistic Office said in a statement on Monday.
In the third quarter alone, air passenger traffic rose 23% on the year to 407,171, while freight traffic surged from 552 t to 3,360 t.
Bosnia has four international airports - in the cities of Sarajevo, Mostar and Tuzla in the Muslim-Croat Federation, one of its two autonomous entities, and in Banja Luka in the other entity, the Serb Republic.
In terms of rail transport, 397,000 passengers were transported in the first nine months of the year, up 1.5% on the year, while freight traffic increased 3.4% on the year to 10.6 million t.
In the third quarter alone, the number of passengers transported by rail increased 1.5% on the year to 137,000, while freight traffic edged down 0.1% to 3.7 million.
