July 29 (SeeNews) - Bosnia and Herzegovina's government said it has decided to remove import tariffs on new electric vehicles by the end of 2022.
The government also decided to cut the import tariff on new hybrid vehicles to 5% from 15% by the end of the year, Bosnia's Council of Ministers said in a statement on Thursday.
With the measure, the government intends to motivate citizens and companies to buy electric or hybrid vehicles, thus contributing towards reducing air pollution and increasing traffic safety, it said.
In May, the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Federation approved a 1 million marka ($522,200/511,300 euro) programme to subsidise citizens for the purchase of new electric and hybrid vehicles.
The Federation is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Serb Republic is the other entity.
