SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), April 24 (SeeNews) – Net electricity production in Bosnia and Herzegovina totalled 2,646 GWh in the first two months of 2017, of which 619 GWh was generated by hydro power plants and 2,026 GWh by thermal power plants, the statistical office said.
Bosnia imported 532 GWh of electricity in the January-February period, while exporting 836 GWh, the Agency for Statistics said in a statement.

In February alone, net electricity production totalled 1,249 GWh, up 2.8% on the year, but down 10.5% on the month.
A total of 288 GWh of electricity was produced by hydro power plants in February, down 36% on the year and 13.1% lower month-on-month. Thermal power plants generated 961 GWh of electricity, up 25.5% on the year, but down 9.7% on the month.
February electricity imports fell 20.9% year-on-year to 212 GWh, and were 33.8% lower compared to January. Exports decreased 18.9% on the year to 424 GWh in February, but were 2.9% higher on the month.
A total of 2,341 GWh of electricity was available for consumption in January-February. In February alone the volume available for consumption was 1,037 GWh.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is made up of two autonomous entities, the Serb Republic and the Federation. It has three power utilities - Elektroprivreda BiH and Elektroprivreda HZHB, which operate in the Federation, and Elektroprivreda RS which operates in the Serb Republic.
