SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), March 7 (SeeNews) – Net electricity production in Bosnia and Herzegovina totalled 14,532 GWh in 2016, of which 4,819 GWh was generated by hydro power plants and 9,713 GWh by thermal power plants, the statistical office said.
Bosnia imported 2,850 GWh of electricity in 2016, while exporting 6,117 GWh, the Agency for Statistics said in a statement on Monday.

In December alone, net electricity production jumped 25.8% on the year, but dropped 0.7% on the month to 1,543 GWh.
A total of 458 GWh of electricity was produced by hydro power plants in December, up 22.5% on the year, but down 22.1% month-on-month. Thermal power plants generated 1,085 GWh of electricity, up 27.2% on the year and 12.3% higher on the month.
December electricity imports plummeted 37.7% year-on-year to 279 GWh, but were 19.7% higher compared to November. Exports, on the other hand, increased 18.3% on the year to 568 GWh in December, but dropped 21.5% on the month.
A total of 11,265 GWh of electricity was available for consumption in 2016. In December alone the volume available for consumption was 1,254 GWh.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is made up of two autonomous entities, the Serb Republic and the Federation. It has three power utilities - Elektroprivreda BiH and Elektroprivreda HZHB, which operate in the Federation, and Elektroprivreda RS which operates in the Serb Republic.
