May 28 (SeeNews) - German engineering and electronics company Bosch said that it is gradually ramping up production activities at its units in Romania after a temporary slowdown due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The company has put in place numerous protection measures for its 8,000 employees in Romania, it said in a press release announcing its 2019 financial results on Wednesday.

"Despite the weak global economy and declining production in the automotive sector, Bosch group registered a positive development in Romania, in all sectors of activity, at the beginning of 2020. However, due to the global economic crisis generated by the Covid-19 pandemic, this year is an atypical one, even for Bosch. Given the many variables, we cannot provide a forecast for 2020 as a whole," Bosch Romania general manager Mihai Boldijar said.
In 2019 fiscal year, Bosch Romania's consolidated sales exceeded 2 billion lei ($454 million/413 million euro). Bosch's net sales, including sales of non-consolidated companies and internal deliveries to affiliated companies in Romania rose 18% on the year to 6.7 billion lei.
"Bosch had a strong growth in 2019 and the company continued its investment and expansion plans in Romania under a strategy focused on technology and innovation," Boldijar said.
Bosch invested approximately 360 million lei in Romania last year, mainly in the development of its production plants within the Mobility Solutions division in Cluj and Blaj, as well as in the field of research and development, at the Bosch Engineering Center in Cluj.
The Bosch Group has been present on the Romanian market for 26 years. Currently, it operates five entities - an R&D center in Cluj, two production units for mobility solutions in Cluj and Blaj, a technological industrial production unit in Blaj and an outsourcing service center Business Processes in Timisoara.
In Bucharest, Bosch operates a sales office for its mobility solutions, consumer goods and construction and energy technology divisions.
