October 10 (SeeNews) - One person has died and nine were injured in an explosion at the Bosanski Brod refinery in Bosnia's Serb Republic entity, Bosanski Brod mayor Ilija Jovicic said on Wednesday.
"Unfortunately, an employee of the refinery lost his life in the explosion," Jovicic said in a video file posted on the website of Serb Republic's public broadcaster RTRS.
The blast took place at 21:30 CET on Tuesday at one of the oil processing facilities of the refinery, RTRS said.
The fire was extinguished shortly after the explosion and there is no air contamination in the area of Bosanski Brod, Jovicic noted.
The refinery is operated by Bosnian company Rafinerija Nafte Brod, a subsidiary of Russian group Zarubezhneft.
