December 6 (SeeNews) - Supermarket chain operator Billa Bulgaria, part of Germany's REWE Group, said that it invested close to 8 million levs ($4.3 million/4.09 million euro) in a new store in the capital Sofia.
About 40 will be employed at the 55th Billa store in Sofia, which spreads over an area of 960 sq m, Billa Bulgaria said in a statement last week.
The store has a 3,000 sq m parking space for 82 cars.
Last week, the supermarket retailer opened its third store in a retail park in the eastern town of Sliven, an investment exceeding 2 million levs.
Billa Bulgaria now employs over 4,500 people in the country and has over 145 stores. The parent company entered the Bulgarian market in 2000.
In 2021, Billa Bulgaria grew its consolidated sales by 3.3% year-on-year to 833.9 million levs, according to its annual report, while its net loss widened to around 25 million levs from some 15 million levs a year earlier.
