February 21 (SeeNews) - Serbia's infrastructure minister said on Wednesday she expects a project for the overhaul works of the Belgrade-Zagreb railway line to start not earlier than in 2020.
The preparation of the project documentation can begin in 2019 if the European Union (EU) approves funding for the project by the end of this year, Zorana Mihajlovic said in a video file posted on the website of Serbian news agency Tanjug.
"For our part, we already have a preliminary feasibility study and a detailed regulation plan," Mihajlovic said.
A protocol on the reconstruction of the Belgrade-Zagreb railway line will be signed with Croatian infrastructure minister Oleg Butkovic during his visit to Belgrade on March 5, she added.
The works on Serbian territory are estimated to total 250 million euro ($308.1 million), Mihajlovic is quoted saying in a government press release earlier this month.
On Serbian territory, the project envisages the reconstruction of both tracks of the Golubinac-Sid section of the railway line, as well as the overhaul of the Ruma-Sid section, the ministry said earlier.
The 412 km Belgrade-Zagreb railway line is part of pan-European Transport Corridor X linking Greece with Austria via Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, and Macedonia.
