March 24 (SeeNews) - The Belgrade city government said it has extended the deadline for receiving bids in a tender for the reconstruction and operation of Sava congress centre in the Serbian capital to April 7 from March 20.
Qualified bidders will be able to submit their offers by 15:30 CET on April 7, according to a public notice posted on the website of the city government.
In January, the city government said that diversified group Delta Holding and a tie-up led by Belgrade airport operator Aerodrom Nikola Tesla [BEL:AERO] have been admitted to bid in the tender.
The bids should include a financial offer, a ten-year business plan and details on the reconstruction project of Sava congress centre.
The winner will be in charge of the complete renovation of the congress centre, with particular emphasis on the possibility of construction of a new convention hall and other facilities as well as improving the energy efficiency of the building.
In July, Serbian media reported that Aerodrom Nikola Tesla was interested in the acquisition of a 49% stake in Sava congress centre and was ready to invest 30 million euro ($32.4 million) in the revamp project. Aerodrom plans to move its management and operational services to the congress centre and transform the building to accommodate a shopping centre and a hotel. The venue would be renamed to Congress Centre Airport Nikola Tesla, Serbian media reported at the time.
Sava congress centre has a total area of 100,000 sq m, including a 4,000-seat theatre hall, 15 conference halls, an exhibition area, restaurants, bars, offices and shops.
