BELGRADE (Serbia), July 12 (SeeNews) – Serbia's main airport, in Belgrade, serviced 2.611 million passengers in the first half of 2019, up 5.9% on the year, its operator - France's Vinci Airports, said on Friday.
In the 12 months ended June 2019, the number of passengers serviced by Belgrade international airport rose 5.2% to 5.787 million passengers, Vinci Airports said in a statement.
The number of passengers handled by Belgrade airport in the second quarter of 2019 alone went up 7.4% on the year to 1.577 million, Vinci Airports said.
The work done by Vinci Airports with airlines since its arrival at the end of 2018 led to the return of Air France, which reopened its Paris-Belgrade service after a six-year absence, Vinci Airports said. "In addition, Wizz Air opened a new link between the Serbian capital and Lyon-Saint Exupery Airport, which is also operated by Vinci Airports."
Vinci Airports officially took over the management of Belgrade airport in December.
In 2018, Belgrade serviced record-high 5.641 million passengers, up 5.4% year-on-year.
