March 29 (SeeNews) - British American Tobacco (BAT) said on Wednesday that Jorge Araya will assume the position of general manager of BAT Romania and director of the new South-Eastern Europe area in the company.
The former director of the Central Europe South area in BAT and general manager of BAT Romania, Fred Monteiro, has been promoted to the management board of BAT as the new regional director for Americas and Europe, the company said in a press release.
"Already with a significant contribution to the local economy, we will continue to invest in our employees, our manufacturing facilities and the science and innovation that are critical for developing our reduced risk products," Araya was quoted as saying.
BAT employs more than 50,000 people worldwide and its brands are sold in more than 200 markets. In Romania, the company holds a share of over 50% of the tobacco market and employs some 3,000 people.
