October 23 (SeeNews) - The energy sector in the Balkan region would need up to 60 billion euro ($82.5 billion) in investments by 2030, the CEO of Serbian oil and gas company NIS [BEL:NIIS] said on Wednesday.
This implies that the cooperation between the countries in the region will intensify going forward, Kiril Kravchenko said in an address he delivered at an ongoing energy summit in Belgrade that was published on the NIS website.
"We can help with the integration of the region and with accelerating economic growth even on the backdrop of difficult macroeconomic conditions," he added..
NIS (www.nis.rs), majority-owned by Gazprom Neft, is one of the largest vertically integrated oil and gas companies in Southeast Europe. Its main activities include the exploration, production and processing of oil and gas, as well as the production and retail of a wide range of petroleum products.
