November 10 (SeeNews) - Romanian automotive market services provider Autonet Group Holding said it has started construction works on a 30 million euro ($34.72 million) new distribution centre in the central part of the country.
Located in Moldovenesti, Cluj county, the new distribution hub will bring faster distribution and high availability, among other logistical benefits, Autonet said in a press release on Tuesday.
Positioned on a 11-hectare lot, the centre will be one of the main local logistical units of the group together with the existing ones in Satu-Mare and Bucharest.
The new unit will have a total surface of 22,700 sq m, 49 loading and unloading gates and an automated AutoStore module equipped with 120,000 storage boxes, 70 robots and 20 workstations. Additionally, the warehouse will include storage space for 12,000 pallets.
The new hub is part of a 55 million euro logistical infrastructure development project, which includes two more centers, in Bucharest and Budapest, according to the press release. The main objective of the project is to improve merchandise supply and distribution to customers from Central Europe, each of the three warehouses being equipped with AutoStore robotized modules.
Plans for a Belgrade warehouse have been finalized as well, this project being in the approval and authorization phase, the company added.
Established in 1996, Autonet Group has 1,600 employees in Romania, Hungary and Slovenia.
