BELGRADE (Serbia), July 31 (SeeNews) – Austrian lighting solutions group Zumtobel launched serial production of lighting components at its factory in Nis, in southern Serbia, it said.
The company began producing lighting components in Nis in the middle of July and aims to launch production of luminaires by the end of August, Zumtobel said in a statement on Monday.
The factory, which will initially have a workforce of 350 employees, is still under construction and will be officially opened in September, Zumtobel said.
"Our new factory is an important addition to the group's current production network with which we have the opportunity to supply our main European markets," the executive director of Zumtobel, Alfred Felder, said.
Zumtobel said last year it plans to invest 30.6 million euro ($35.9 million) in the construction of a luminaire production plant with a footprint of 40,000 square metres in Nis.
The Serbian government provided subsidies of 8 million euro toward the cost of the project.
