BELGRADE (Serbia), October 1 (SeeNews) – Austrian lighting solutions group Zumtobel has started the operation of its LED lighting solutions factory in Nis, in southern Serbia, the city government said.
The factory has 300 employees and that number will be expanded to 1,100 when its development is completed, the Nis city government said in a statement on Friday.
"It is a great honour to open this factory and show the exceptional progress of the company on a global scale," the CEO of Zumtobel, Alfred Felder, said in the statement.
Zumtobel said last year it plans to invest 30.6 million euro ($35.4 million) in the construction of a luminaire production plant with a footprint of 40,000 square metres in Nis.
The Serbian government contributed subsidies of 8 million euro toward the cost of the project.
