April 13 (SeeNews) - Austria-headquartered packaging and paper group Mondi said on Friday it is currently assessing various options at its Stambolyiski mill in Bulgaria.
"Mondi Group notes recent reports in local Bulgarian media regarding a potential expansion of its Stambolyiski mill," the company told SeeNews in an e-mailed statement. "Mondi constantly evaluates potential investments at its cost advantaged operations and is currently assessing various options at its Stambolijski mill in Bulgaria."
At this stage, no decision has been made, Mondi said.

Mondi Group did not comment on a statement released by Bulgaria's economy ministry on Thursday, according to which Mondi intends to invest 600 million euro ($739.1 million) into the construction of a new plant in Bulgaria.

Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, Mondi Group also operates two production plants in Serbia. Mondi is employing around 26,000 people in over 30 countries. Its major operations are in central Europe, Russia, North America and South Africa.
