BUCHAREST (Romania), September 22 (SeeNews) – Austrian furniture retailer kika said on Friday it will open a 14 million euro ($16.7 million) store in Romania's capital Bucharest in December.
The store will have an area of 12,000 square meters and will provide 80 new jobs, kika said in a press release. It is a former store of German multinational home improvement chain Obi, which kika acquired at the beginning of September.
Other openings are underway for the near future in other major cities in Romania, the retailer said.
"We are glad that we are already in a straight line with the preparations for the opening of the second store in Romania. Local demand has been good in 2017 and we have been able to continually increase our results in recent years," kika-Leiner Group CEO Gunnar George said.
In February kika launched its online store, so that customers across the country can easily access its products.
kika opened its first store in Romania's Bucharest in 2008, following a 31 million euro investment.
