June 28 (SeeNews) - Austrian transport and info-logistics services provider Cargo-partner said on Tuesday that the turnover from its Bulgarian operations reached 32 million euro ($33.85 million) in 2021, increasing by 37% compared to 2020 when results were strongly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The rise in turnover is due to both the increased cost of freight and the higher volume of shipments across all types, which grew 15% on the year in 2021, the company said in an emailed trading update. Shipments in 2021 totalled 28,000.
"The current year is also expected to be challenging for the logistics industry, so we are ready with new individual solutions for our customers' needs," Cargo-partner Bulgaria manager Dimcho Dimchev said.
Cargo-partner's overall turnover jumped 72% year-on-year in 2021, exceeding 1.8 million euro, the company added. Croatia and Slovenia were among the countries where the transport and logistics firm invested in boosting its warehousing capacities, in addition to Germany, China and Thailand.
The Austrian company, which employs more than 3,000 staff in 40 countries, has been present in Bulgaria since 2018 when it opened a logistics centre in Sofia.
