March 6 (SeeNews) - Turkish paper and cardboard manufacturer Mopak Kagit Karton has commissioned Austria's industrial plant engineering group Andritz to rebuild a PM3 paper machine at its mill in Dalaman, Turkey, the Graz-based group said.
The conversion, which is the first part of a multi-stage project, will increase the capacity of the mill to 500,000 tonnes per year, with the launch expected to take place in the first quarter of 2021, Andritz said in a statement on Thursday.
The price of the deal was not disclosed.
Production will be converted from coated board grades to lightweight coated and uncoated White Top Testliner, as well as coated board and gray board, using wastepaper fully or partially. The machine will also be able to produce virgin pulp-based coated and uncoated board as well as offset printing paper.
“The rebuild will not only increase our capacity, but also our flexibility as we will be able to offer board grades for a broad range of applications,” Ruhi Molay, managing director of Mopak Kagit Karton, said in the statement.
