December 8 (SeeNews) - Australia's Megaport on Thursday announced its strategic partnership with Bulgarian wholesale carrier Sofia Connect.
Through this partnership, Sofia Connect will be able to sell Megaport's Software Defined Network (SDN) services using its own customer base across Eastern Europe, Megaport said in a statement on its website.
The partnership would enable Sofia Connect to provide customers with direct, instant, scalable access to Megaport's global ecosystem of over 200 service providers, including major cloud services such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
"Their experience and credibility make them a trusted enabler of network services in locations that extend well beyond the current Megaport footprint, reaching into cities with increasing demand for cloud networking services.[...] Enabling Sofia Connect’s customers with our SDN services and global footprint opens the door for new cloud use cases," Sofia Connect quoted Megaport CEO, Denver Maddux, as saying in a separate statement on Sofia Connect website.
Sofia Connect provides broadband and telecommunications services in Central and Western Europe as well as the Balkans, Ukraine, Georgia, and Armenia. Services include data transport, internet access, colocation, and hosting solutions.
Megaport is a global provider of Elastic Interconnection services. Megaport’s global SDN enables customers to rapidly connect their network to other services and data centres across the world. Services can be directly controlled by customers via their mobile devices, computer, or open application programming interface (API). Megaport has presence in 13 countries across 19 cities and 57 locations.
In August, Megaport acquired Bulgarian network services provider OM-NIX as part of its European expansion drive.
