May 19 (SeeNews) - Hamburg-based Aurubis said that the copper concentrate throughput of its Bulgarian smelter, in the town of Pirdop, rose by an annual 8% to 682,000 tonnes in the first half of its fiscal year 2019/2020, started October 1.
Cathode output at Pridop increased 2% year-on-year at 112,000 t. in the six months through March, Aurubis said in an interim financial statement last week.
Sulfuric acid output at Pirdop amounted to 697,000 t in the review period, 15% higher on the year.
The company's output in the first half of its previous financial year was affected by boiler damages at Pirdop.
In the second quarter of fiscal year 2019/2020 alone, concentrate throughput at Pirdop rose 13% to 349,000 t, while cathode output increased 4% to 57,000 t.
The Pirdop smelter is located 80 kilometres east of the capital Sofia.
