January 18 (SeeNews) - Scottish-based contact centre management specialist Ascensos said on Thursday it opened a new customer contact centre in Romania's capital Bucharest following a 500,000 euro ($611,157) investment.
The specialist contact centre business manages bespoke and specialised multi-channel customer contact solutions, including social media customer engagement and insights for a range of blue-chip retailers, Ascensos said in a statement.
"As an international business we have invested further in Bucharest as it provides a high calibre workforce; strengthens our multi-lingual capabilities and continues to expand our operations beyond the UK as we grow and scale," Ascensos executive chairman, Dermot Jenkinson, said.
The new facility employs 100 professionals and the company plans to hire a further 100 as it continues to grow.
Ascensos first established operations in Bucharest in 2016 following the acquisition of Dutch business HECC which had 70 staff across its sites in Boxtel in the Netherlands and Bucharest in Romania.
"Through this investment, we plan to grow our presence in Romania and the range of skills we can offer our clients," Ascensos managing director of continental European operations, Hans Jansen, said.
Retail clients with a European footprint are attracted to use the Bucharest facility due to the multilingual skills of the Ascensos team there, the company said.
Founded in 2013, Ascensos now operates three contact centres in Scotland, one on the Isle of Wight along with operations in Boxtel and now the new location in Bucharest. The company employs up to 1,600 customer service professionals internationally.
