December 9 (SeeNews) - European restaurant and food service platform AmRest said on Monday it plans to open a second Burger King restaurant in Romania on December 13.
The new unit will be located in AFI Cotroceni shopping mall in eastern Bucharest and will employ 40, AmRest said in a press release.
"We are very proud of this milestone opening of our second restaurant in Romania, which is also a statement of our bold ambition to accelerate our growth in the region," Burger King AmRest president Alan Laughlin said.
In September, AmRest said it plans to open three Burger King restaurants in Bucharest by the end of the year.
AmRest Holdings is a multi-brand franchise restaurant operator in Europe with a portfolio of 10 brands across 25 countries. It operates franchise brands such as KFC, Pizza Hut, Starbucks and Burger King, proprietary brands like Sushi Shop, La Tagliatella, Bacoa, Blue Frog and KABB, as well as virtual brand Pokai.
In Romania, AmRest operates the Starbucks coffee shop chain and, starting this year, the Burger King Restaurant chain.
Burger King first entered Romania in 2008 but decided to close all of restaurants of the chain but one in 2012, as its operator Atlantic Restaurant System entered insolvency. Currently, the only restaurant of Burger King in Romania is located at the departure terminal of Henri Coanda International Airport in Bucharest.
