March 10 (SeeNews) - French provider of customised enterprise communication solutions and services Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) is relocating the industrial production of its enterprise communication platforms from Romania to France, the company told SeeNews on Friday.
"Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise confirm they are relocating the industrial production of their enterprise communication platforms to France," the company said, adding that with the move they will support the French government policy and reduce the carbon impact of the distribution logistics for French and Western European customers.
ALE’s PABX telephone switches were thus far manufactured by a service provider in Romania, French magazine L’usine Nouvelle reported on Thursday. Their production will soon be taken over by the French electronic subcontractor Cofidur, in the western town of Laval, in the Mayenne department.
Unlike consumer phones, the production of enterprise telephone switches does not generate large volumes, therefore its relocation to lower-cost countries did not seem justified considering the availability of a significant subcontracting sector in France, the French publication added.
Cofidur Group is a major electronics subcontractor tallying 400 professionals and two production sites in France, as well as an outsourcing facility in Tunisia, data from its website shows. In 2022, the group booked a consolidated turnover of 55.8 million euro ($59.1 million), up from 52.3 million euro in the previous year.
ALE delivers custom digital age networking, communications and cloud solutions. The company is headquartered in Paris and tallies over 50 representatives globally and over 3,400 business partners and distribution networks.
