TIRANA (Albania), June 3 (SeeNews) – Albania-based low-cost carrier Albawings has launched a direct service connecting the capital Tirana with Germany’s Dusseldorf, Tirana International Airport (TIA) said on Monday.
The company will offer three flights a week, on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, TIA said in a press release.
“The new route is the latest move in Albawings’ ambitious and dynamic programme of fleet and network expansion,” the chief executive officer of Albawings, Anila Rama, said.
Apart from the summer flight schedule, the new flights to and from Dusseldorf will be available also in the winter flight schedule, aiming to strengthen the bridges between Albania and Germany, Rama noted.
“This is great news for all of us. We will have a busy summer and many destinations to serve. I am pleased for all of the Albanians who live near Dusseldorf, because they will now be closer to their families, and I wish Albawings the very best for its new route,” TIA CEO, Rolf Castro-Vasquez, said.
Albawings is expected to launch two more services from Tirana: to the UK’s Stansted and Greece’s Heraklion in June, TIA said in a separate statement in March.
Albawings is a low-cost airline headquartered in Tirana and based at TIA. It is the only Albanian airline operating scheduled flights.
