TIRANA (Albania), August 26 (SeeNews) – Albania's electricity production increased to 2,660 GWh in the second quarter of 2021 from 1,188 GWh a year earlier, the country's statistical office said.
Albania's power exports jumped to 924 GWh from 224 GWh in the April-June period of 2020, whereas imports fell to 228 GWh from 681 GWh, INSTAT said in a statement on Wednesday.
Some 58.5% of the country's electricity production in the second quarter of 2021 was generated by public hydro plants, 41.0% by independent power producers and 0.5% by other producers.
Grid losses increased to 400.4 GWh in the second quarter of 2021 from 310.3 GWh in the like period a year earlier. Distribution losses rose to 339.7 GWh from 272.8 GWh, while transmission losses increased to 60.7 GWh from 37.6 GWh.
