TIRANA (Albania), August 26 (SeeNews) – Albania's electricity production decreased to 1,280 GWh in the second quarter of 2019 from 2,707 GWh a year earlier, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
Albania's power exports fell to 142 GWh from 1,106 GWh in April-June 2018, whereas imports rose to 683 GWh from 139 GWh, INSTAT said in a statement.
All electricity produced in the second quarter of 2019 was generated by hydro power plants.
Some 484 GWh of electricity was produced by state-owned companies, whereas independent electricity producers contributed 790 GWh.
Grid losses decreased by 7.9% year-on-year to 359 GWh in the second quarter. Distribution losses edged up to 316 GWh from 315 GWh, while transmission losses narrowed to 43 GWh from 75 GWh.
