TIRANA (Albania), August 24 (SeeNews) – Albania's electricity production increased to 2,707 GWh in the second quarter of 2018 from 1,424 GWh in the same period of last year, the country's statistical office, INSTAT, said on Friday.
Albania's power exports rose to 1,106 GWh from 170 GWh in April-June 2017, whereas imports of electricity fell to 139 GWh from 459 GWh, INSTAT said in a statement.
The entire volume of the country's second quarter electricity production of 2,707 GWh was generated by hydro power plants, with 1,795 GWh produced by state-owned companies, whereas independent electricity producers contributed the remainder.
Losses in the country's electricity network losses increased by 7.6% to 394 GWh.
Distribution losses decreased by 17.7% year-on-year to 319 GWh, while transmission losses increased to 75.2 GWh from 39 GWh.
