TIRANA (Albania), May 25 (SeeNews) – Albania's electricity production increased to 3,213 GWh in the first quarter of 2018 from 1,588 GWh in the same period of last year, the country's statistical office, INSTAT, said on Friday.
Albania's power exports rose to 1,204 GWh from 190 GWh in January-March 2017, whereas imports of electricity fell to 115 GWh from 621 GWh, INSTAT said in a statement.
The entire volume of the country's 2017 electricity production of 3,213 GWh was generated by hydro power plants, with 2,087 GWh produced by state-owned companies, whereas independent electricity producers contributed the remainder.
Losses in the country's electricity network losses increased by 0.9% to 600 GWh.
Distribution losses decreased by 7% year-on-year to 513 GWh in the first three months of 2018, while transmission losses increased to 86.6 GWh from 42.4 GWh.
