July 23 (SeeNews) - Albania’s Prime Minister Sali Berisha on Wednesday reshuffled his cabinet, naming a new deputy prime minister, education and health ministers, the PM's office said on Wednesday.
Berisha named education minister Genc Polo as deputy prime minister, the office said in a statement.
The position was left vacant in March when Gazmet Oteka, deputy prime minister at that time, replaced Fatmir Mediu as defence minister. Mediu resigned after a deadly blast at an ammunition dump near the capital Tirana killed at least 26 people and injured 300.
Berisha also named Fatos Beja as education minister, and proposed that Anila Godo replace Nard Ndoka as health minister.
The proposed changes in the cabinet lineup should be approved by Albania’s President Bamir Topi and then by the parliament, where Berisha’s Democratic Party and its centre-right coalition of five parties hold a majority.
