TIRANA (Albania), July 19 (SeeNews) – Albania’s parliament said it has approved a public private partnership (PPP) contract with local company Gjikuria for the construction and maintenance of a 14.7 km long road linking the yacht port in the coastal village of Orikum to Dukat village in Vlora region.
The value of the contract amounts to 50.1 million euro ($57.3 million), exclusive of value added tax (VAT), the parliament said in a press release late on Thursday.
Gjikuria was selected in a government tender for the construction of the Orikum-Dukat road in November. Two candidates had submitted offers for awarding a 13-year concession contract on the project in southwestern Albania – Gjikuria and 4 A-M, the ministry said at the time.
The new road is expected to ease traffic in Albania's southern coastal area, give a further boost to tourism and enhance economic and cultural exchanges by reducing transportation costs.
