TIRANA (Albania), February 1 (SeeNews) – Albania's state-owned power corporation KESH said it has sold a total of 9,100 MWh of electricity worth 403,286 euro ($501,312) for delivery in the January 26 – February 1 period.
KESH announced and concluded the auction on January 25, with the highest price offered set as the most important criteria, according to the final report on the results of the auction posted on the website of the company on Wednesday.
Six domestic and foreign power suppliers and traders participated in the auction, and KESH selected only GEN-I Tirana.
The prices achieved in the auction were 40.10 euro/MWh for the first lot of delivery (06:00-17:00 & 21:00-23:00) and 45.02 euro/MWh for the second lot (06:00-17:00 & 21:00-23:00).
Albania produces 98% of its electricity at hydro power plants (HPP). Most of it is generated at three power plants along the Drin River, in the northern part of the country.
