TIRANA (Albania), February 9 (SeeNews) – Albania's state-owned power corporation KESH said on Friday it sold a total of 7,623 MWh of electricity worth 275,304 euro ($337,465) for delivery in the February 6-9 period.
KESH announced and concluded the auction on February 5, with the highest price offered set as the most important criteria, according to the final report on the results of the auction posted on the website of the company.
Six domestic and foreign power suppliers and traders participated in the auction, as KESH accepted all offers.
The price ranges achieved in the auction were 29.55 euro/MWh to 35.10 euro/MWh for the first lot, 33.51 euro/MWh to 43.74 euro/MWh for the second lot, 36.74 euro/MWh to 45 euro/MWh for the third lot, and 30.51 euro/MWh to 45.94 euro/MWh for the fourth lot.
Albania produces 98% of its electricity at hydro power plants (HPP). Most of it is generated at three power plants along the Drin River, in the northern part of the country.
