TIRANA (Albania), February 18 (SeeNews) – Albania's trade deficit decreased by 7.1% year-on-year in January, to 19 billion leks ($167.1 million/154.2 million euro), the national statistical office said.
Exports rose 5.2% on the year to 23 billion leks in the period under review, while imports decreased 0.7% to 42 billion leks, INSTAT said in a statement on Monday.
Italy remained Albania's main trading partner in the January, absorbing Albanian exports of 11.4 billion leks and providing imports to the country of 9.8 billion leks. Other major exporters to Albania were Greece, Turkey and China.
Albania exported mainly textiles and footwear, minerals, fuels, electricity and construction materials and metals.
