TIRANA (Albania), February 21 (SeeNews) – Albania’s harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) rose by 1.6% year-on-year in January, after adding 1.4% in December, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
The strongest upward push on annual inflation in January came from a 3.3% rise in the harmonised index of consumer prices of transport, followed by prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages with a 2.9% increase, INSTAT said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania's HICP rose by 2.5% in January, after increasing by 1.0% in the previous month.
Albania's non-harmonised consumer price inflation accelerated to 1.5% year-on-year in January, from 1.1% in December, INSTAT said earlier this month.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February 2017. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
