January 20 (SeeNews) - Albania’s annual harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) increased by 7.5% in December, after advancing by 8% in November, the country's statistical office said.
The strongest upward push on annual inflation in December came from a 13% rise in the harmonised index of the food and nonalcoholic beverages group, followed by transport with a 7.5% rise, INSTAT said in a statement on Thursday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania's HICP edged up 0.4% in December, after decreasing 0.1% in November.
Albania's non-harmonised consumer price inflation increased by 7.4% year-on-year in December, after rising by 7.9% the previous month, INSTAT said earlier this month.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February 2017. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
