TIRANA (Albania), January 20 (SeeNews) – Albania’s annual harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) rose by 1.4% in December, after adding 1.8% year-on-year in November, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
The strongest upward push on annual inflation in December came from a 3.3% rise in the harmonised index of consumer prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by prices of recreation and culture services with a 2.0% increase, INSTAT said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania's HICP rose 1.0% in December, after falling 0.2% in the previous month.
Albania's non-harmonised consumer price inflation slowed to 1.1% year-on-year in December, from 1.4% in November, INSTAT said earlier this month.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February 2017. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
