TIRANA (Albania), February 22 (SeeNews) – Albania’s annual harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) increased by 2.4% in January, following a 1.8% rise in December, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
The strongest upward push on annual inflation came from a 5.4% rise in harmonised index of consumer prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by hotels and restaurants (2.9%), and recreation and culture (+1.8), INSTAT said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania's HICP rose 2.3% in January, after increasing 1.4% in the previous month.
Albania's non-harmonised consumer price inflation rose by 1.9% year-on-year in January, after increasing by 1.8% in December, INSTAT said earlier this month.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February 2017. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
