TIRANA (Albania), October 19 (SeeNews) – Albania’s annual harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) increased by 1.9% in September, following a 2.1% rise in August, the country's statistical office, INSTAT, said.
The strongest upward push on annual inflation came from a 5.4% rise in the harmonised index of consumer prices of recreation and culture, followed by food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.2%), and transport (+1.9%), INSTAT said in a statement on Thursday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania's HICP edged up 0.3% in September, unchanged from the increase recorded in the previous month.
Albania's non-harmonised consumer price inflation slowed to 2.1% year-on-year in September, from 2.2% in August, INSTAT said earlier this month.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February 2017. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
