TIRANA (Albania), August 19 (SeeNews) - Albania’s annual harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) advanced by 7.2% in July, after increasing 6.3% in June, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
The strongest upward push on annual inflation in July came from a 14.5% rise in the harmonised index of the transport group, followed by food and non-alcoholic beverages with a 12.4% rise and alcoholic beverages and tobacco with a 4.5% increase, INSTAT said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania's HICP edged up 0.6% in July, after decreasing 0.4% in June.
Albania's non-harmonised consumer price inflation increased by 7.5% year-on-year in July, after rising by 7.4% the previous month, INSTAT said earlier this month.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February 2017. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
