September 20 (SeeNews) - Albania’s harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) rose by 4.7% year-on-year in August, after advancing by 5% in July, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
The strongest upward push on annual inflation in August came from a 8.2% rise in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by household goods and maintenance services with 6.3%, and culture and entertainment activities with 6.1%, the statistical office, INSTAT, said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania's HICP edged down by 0.4% in August, after falling by 0.2% in July.
Albania's non-harmonised consumer price inflation eased to 4% year-on-year in August, after rising by 4.2% in July, INSTAT said earlier this month.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February 2017. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
