TIRANA (Albania), December 14 (SeeNews) - Albania's energy ministry said it has received an application for a building permit for a small hydro power plant (HPPs) of up to 2 MW in Fushe Arrez administrative unit, in the northwestern city of Shkodra.
The application was submitted by local company Gjeokonsult & Co, according to data posted on the website of the energy ministry on Tuesday.
In October, the energy ministry received four applications for building permits for small HPPs.
The capacity of each planned HPP shall not exceed 2 MW.
Albania produces 98% of its electricity from HPPs, most of it from three power plants along the Drin River, in the northern part of the country.
