TIRANA (Albania), October 8 (SeeNews) – Albania’s economic confidence indicator decreased by 4.0 percentage points (pp) to 102.1 points in the third quarter of 2018, after going down by 9.9 pp in the previous quarter, the country's central bank said on Monday.
The indicator's dynamics reflected a decline in both business confidence and consumer confidence. However, the economic confidence level remained above its long-term average, Bank of Albania said in a quarterly business and consumer confidence survey.
In the third quarter, the business confidence index dropped in all areas covered - industry, construction, services and trade, from the level registered in the previous quarter.
The industry confidence indicator edged down 0.1 pp in the third quarter. The indicator stands around 6.0 pp above its historical average, despite falling for a third straight quarter.
The construction confidence indicator continued its downward trend, dropping 1.9 pp below the second-quarter value, while the services confidence indicator fell by 3.2 pp.
The trade confidence indicator also fell, by 5.3 pp, in the third quarter, sending the indicator below its historical average.
The consumer confidence indicator also continued its decline during the third quarter, falling by 0.7 pp.
The confidence surveys of businesses and consumers are conducted by the Bank of Albania every three months since 2002.
Starting from May 2016, the Bank of Albania started the organisation of these surveys under the EC programme for the Harmonization of the Consumer and Business Confidence Surveys for member and candidate countries of the European Union.
