TIRANA (Albania), January 8 (SeeNews) – Albania’s economic confidence indicator decreased by 12.6 percentage points (pp) to 95.4 in the fourth quarter of 2019, after adding 3.2 pp in the previous quarter, the central bank said on Wednesday.
In the fourth quarter, the economic confidence indicator shifted below its long-term average, reflecting a drop of both business and consumer confidence, Bank of Albania said in a quarterly survey.
The industry confidence indicator fell by 5.1 pp in the fourth quarter but remained above its historical average.
The services confidence indicator decreased by 15.1 pp in the period under review, shifting below its historical average.
The trade confidence indicator fell by 3.4 pp, moving further below its historical average.
The construction confidence indicator decreased by 3.0 pp in the review period, standing below its historical average for the second straight quarter.
The consumer confidence indicator also fell in the fourth quarter, by 1.4 pp, maintaining its downward trend and shifting 1.4 pp below its historical
average
The confidence surveys of businesses and consumers are conducted by Bank of Albania every three months since 2002. Starting from May 2016, Bank of Albania started conducting the surveys under the European Commission's programme for harmonization of the consumer and business confidence surveys for European Union member states and candidate countries.
