TIRANA (Albania), August 23 (SeeNews) – Albania's largest sea port of Durres handled 2.1 million tonnes of cargo in the first seven months of 2018, 4,383 tonnes more compared to the same period a year earlier, the port authority said.
Ships carried over 1.6 million tonnes of goods to and from Durres, down 2% year-on-year, while ferries transported around 520,000 tonnes of cargo in the January-July period, up 8% year-on-year, the port authority said in a statement earlier this week.
A total of 321 commercial vessels were handled by the goods terminals, while 511 ferries visited the ferry terminal, which, besides passengers, also transports goods by trucks and trains.
