May 30 (SeeNews) - Albania’s central bank upheld its inflation target of 3%, local media reported.
“We, too, have been affected by inflation. Right now, we're at 4.6%. However, we are still better as compared to many countries in the region. But our aim is for inflation to decrease further,” economic news provider Monitor quoted Bank of Albania deputy governor Luljeta Minxhozi as saying during a regional summit of central bank, finance ministry and tax administration officials in Budva, Montenegro.
Earlier in May, Albania's central bank decided to keep its policy rate at 3% as inflation decreased but inflationary pressures remained high. Albania’s annual harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) rose by 5% in April, after advancing by 5.5% in March, the country's statistical office said earlier.
