TIRANA (Albania), April 12 (SeeNews) – Albania’s central bank said on Friday it has approved the renaming of Banka Societe Generale Albania to Banka OTP Albania following its acquisition from Hungarian banking group.
Earlier this month, OTP said it has closed financially the acquisition of 100% interest in the Albanian unit of French banking group Societe Generale.

“With the acquisition of the Albanian bank, OTP Group is already present in ten countries in the Central and Eastern European region,” OTP said at the time.
Banka Societe Generale Albania, now Banka OTP, is the fifth largest bank in the country with a market share of nearly 6%.
In January, OTP Bank said it has completed financially the acquisition of Societe Generale Expressbank, the Bulgarian subsidiary of the French group, as well as other units of the group in Bulgaria.
